I think the AI might have learned the wrong lesson from the humans

I needed a stronger arm and didn't want to spend $10k, so I designed and built this one using RobStride Dynamics motors for about $1,200. Still a lot to improve about this setup but it's been a great learning experience so far.

PSA: If you're using JP Morgan for wealth management I would move off ASAP. A friend of mine had an advisor steal money from him via hidden fees that were 15x higher than agreed upon, and when confronted, JP Morgan fired my friend as a client rather than the advisor.

I just found this app to block the For You tab on Twitter: socialfocus.app. I have trouble avoiding the tab naturally because there is sometimes good stuff there, but the signal definitely doesn't outweigh the noise.

I had seen the demos but I finally read the paper and it's just as impressive. It convinced me that we shouldn't even bother with mono vision since stereo vision has much better performance for both the operator and the trained policies. Nice work Xuxin Cheng and team!

I asked ChatGPT how to run `goimports` on save in vim, and its solution immediately replaced my entire file contents with garbage. Tough but fair.

My number one request for any LLM based chat system is the ability to disable autocomplete. It's always "correcting" my obscure word or acronym to the wrong thing, and if I do type something wrong the LLM has no problem understanding what I said.

Spending a week in Tokyo made me wonder what metro areas had the highest GDP in the world. I was definitely surprised by the results.

I finally got VR teleoperation working well enough to make a cup of tea. The biggest things I need to improve are to make the arm more kinematically similar to mine and make it more rigid.

Does anyone know how the small metal gears in RC motors/servos are manufactured? I think they’re too cheap to be machined but I haven’t found any definitive evidence about the technique used.
