We have some exciting news... this year Kingfishers have successfully BRED on Mull for the very first time! After a report was put into 'Mull Birds' of a lone KF in June, I was very curious and went to check out the area and to my amazement, ended up watching 3 KFs together! 🧵

Ospreys are on the move, migrating from Scottish breeding grounds towards their African winter quarters. As they can glide with slightly bent wings, they can often cut a rather gull like figure. See our Birding Calendar for more birds to spot in August: the-soc.org.uk/pages/birding-…

Lovely shot of a mixed group of waders. Now is the time they are on the move on migration, so any group is worth a scan - you never know what you might see!

Sanderling are heading south from the High Arctic, using our shores to rest and refuel. Birds occurring in Scotland could have bred in Spitzbergen, Greenland, Siberia or Canada, and they may travel as far as West Africa. Don't forget to record sightings & counts on BirdTrack

Happy Meteorological Autumn! It’s a thrilling time of year to look to the skies during this migration period. You may glance an Osprey heading to Africa or even a rare passage migrant like a Wryneck. Find some good birding spots near you: the-soc.org.uk/get-involved/w…
