"A Big Bold Beautiful Journey" will be releasing in premium formats. I'm guessing we'll get to see all those gorgeous colours on IMAX and PXL screens.

After watching Apple TV's THE STUDIO, and getting a big kick out of it, I compiled an extensive list of every film and TV series that depicted behind-the-scenes drama of filmmakers in similarly inventive — and, of course, therapeutic — ways. theweek.in/news/entertain…

Gian Maria Volonté must be the only actor who had the privilege of being in two films that won the Grand Prix at Cannes in the same year, 1972 — "The Working Class Goes to Heaven" and "The Mattei Affair".

Went with the expectation of having a full (or even single) biryani. Got kuska instead. Thug Life. My spoiler-free review. theweek.in/review/movies/…

The new Mike Flanagan film and the remastered release of an Anwar Rasheed-Mohanlal Malayalam hit out this Friday. The right antidote for the TL after-effects at the right time.

It's when Indian filmmakers badly do references to "yakuza" and "martial arts" in their mainstream movies that our appreciation for what Tarantino did in the KILL BILL films — that too with a few characters — grows.

Wrote about "Stolen", a rarity in this age of dwindling attention spans and declining quality of most mainstream Bollywood fare. theweek.in/review/movies/…

THE LIFE OF CHUCK proves Mike Flanagan can be as adept at spinning a small, personal, and reflective emotional yarn as a terrifying horror epic. He proves his versatility with a quiet, slow-paced meditation on mortality and the value of those fleeting moments of tremendous joy.

ln THE LIFE OF CHUCK, there was this familiar face playing Tom Hiddleston's grandmom, and then it hit me: Mia Sara, from FERRIS BUELLER'S DAY OFF, and also Tom Cruise's heroine in Ridley Scott's LEGEND. (Only 5 years younger than Cruise!) She is still gorgeous and charming.

A scene in Martin Scorsese's THE AVIATOR where Cate Blanchett admits to DiCaprio about maintaining a fake persona in front of certain people even if you don't like them. Seeing it 21 years ago as a high schooler, I didn't get it. Today, having seen many examples up close, I do.

Don't know how to describe the number of cool things — in terms of storytelling and spectacle — that Dan Trachtenberg pulls off in this animated tie-up to PREY and the upcoming PREDATOR: BADLANDS. His vision is extraordinarily cinematic! Can't wait to see what he did in BADLANDS.
