Just a friendly reminder: I've got a new novel coming out this spring! Lowfield, a tale of paranormal suspense set in my home province of PEI, is out April 15 with Now Or Never Publishing. Pre-order wherever you buy your books!

I'm back with another guest post for my wife Rebecca's newsletter. This is a deeply personal one for me, talking about the long, hard road to getting my forthcoming new novel, Lowfield, accepted for publication. Please let me know what you think! rose-coloured-552b58.beehiiv.com/p/on-the-sunk-…

Following in author Louise Penny's footsteps, I am cancelling all US public appearances to promote my new novel, even though absolutely none have been scheduled. While the Kennedy Center in Washington has not invited me to launch the book there, I preemptively refuse to do so.

Great to see my forthcoming novel, Lowfield, included in All Lit Up's Off/Kilter: 2025 Spring Preview. Yeah, I'd say the book is fairly off kilter! 🙃 alllitup.ca/off-kilter-202…

Great to see Devouring Tomorrow make the Hamilton Review of Books' 2025 Staff Writers' Picks. Lots of other great titles on that list, too. hamiltonreviewofbooks.com/blog/2025/03/2…

Well, I've got a fun piece of good news to share. I've had a short story accepted to the Ampersand Review! My piece, called "Adults in Costume," will appear in the magazine's Summer 2025 issue. Hazzah! Details on the blog! freerangereading.blogspot.com/2025/04/accept…

Still waffling about whether to pick up a copy of my new novel, Lowfield? On the fence about coming to the Toronto launch (Sunday, April 27, 1-3pm, at Little Ghosts Books on Dundas W.)? Maybe this reader review will help you make up your mind.

My wife has put together a v. practical piece about the various revenue streams that writers receive for their work. A good primer for the curious or those thinking about getting into the writing game and wondering "what/how will I get paid?" rose-coloured-552b58.beehiiv.com/p/ways-in-whic…

What's the first line of Lowfield by Mark Sampson you ask? "The man stood at the rail of the ferry and stared out at what looked like a row of enormous tombstones rising out of the water." Well, I'm in. #amreading #fiction

Very grateful for this thoughtful and balanced review of my new novel, Lowfield, from Alex Boyd on his blog. Nice to see that a poet and fiction writer I admire took the time to read and share his insights on my book. boydwords.wordpress.com/2025/05/31/low…

LOWFIELD gets another review! This one's in The Miramichi Reader, and it's a doozy. "[T]his novel will disturb easily jangled nerves. Any Canadian television producer looking for a CanLit, Canadian-set limited series should option Lowfield right away." miramichireader.ca/2025/06/lowfie…
