Captain Chip headed back from the glider deployment this morning into teaching a class with Masters student Sophie this afternoon back on campus. What a week it was for the operations team here at RUCOOL!

This weekend, Daisies from Girl Scout Troop 60714 visited RUCOOL to earn their "What Robots Do" and "Coding Basics" badges. They had a lot of fun checking out the gliders and learning about the data we collect! Rutgers SEBS

Tim and Ethan were at the Holgate HF-Radar #CODAR site yesterday doing some maintenance to keep that data going to the USCG for search and rescue. It's clearly been a long winter as the beach eroded almost up to our antenna. MARACOOS Rutgers SEBS

RUCOOL was at the Wind Institute Research Symposium at Kean U. Teemer presented his talk entitled "Understanding the Seasonal Linkages of Underlying Oceanographic Conditions & Phytoplankton Dynamics in and Around Offshore Wind Development Areas." He got major kudos! Congrats!

Bears in the Igloo. RU39 and RU40 for the Spring RMI, and RU32 for NJDEP have been recovered by Brian, Jess, and Delphine aboard SeaTow on a nice sunny day in Atlantic City!

Congrats to our Masters of Operational Oceanography students for completing their degrees today. First up was the public poster session, followed by the tough Q/A session with their professors, led by Alex Lopez. Sophie, Charlotte, Nick, Sal, Scott, Trivik and Jesse… WELL DONE!

It's been a busy field work week here at RUCOOL. We've been working on upgrading our MARACOOS HF-Radar systems used for US Coast Guard Search & Rescue, deploying a glider in Martinique that is looking for whales, and had multiple glider recoveries in NJ. @rutgerssebs @sebsrutgers

Nicole & Lori recovered our gliders RU39 & RU40 today, that were funded by the #NJDEP & #NJBPU Research Monitoring Initiative. The gliders recorded data on temperature, salinity, depth, oxygen, phytoplankton, pH, fish/mammal tags and recorded whale songs. LOTS of data to analyze!
