THREAD: Here's why I think 'synergy' is the most important concept in school improvement right now. (And yes, it's slightly annoying management speak)

Ruby Judge I have to model anything I expect my team to do. I also need to continue to build experience with all types of group so I can understand, empathise with, support and help develop staff skills and experiences with all levels and types of pupil. Can’t steer our ship well if not.

Ruby Judge A mix of groups is essential to see the overall dynamic of how your curriculum works with different cohorts of children. Also agree that as HOD you lead by example so take any class you'd ask your team to take.

Question for headteachers/school business managers. Please retweet. Does your school charge peripatetic music teachers (e.g. piano, guitar) a fee for use of the practice room that they teach in? If 'yes', could you comment with the sum charged?

Tes Long summer breaks can leave pupils ‘dysregulated.’ But maybe the answer is rebalancing term lengths rather than cutting holidays? Longer half-terms could help avoid burnout while keeping summer shorter. #Education #SchoolHolidays

I've been a Head Teacher for over 12 years. Even I'm thinking it is probably easier to join the army of education consultants, telling people in schools what to do. Rather than being a school leader in the front line, actually making the real difference.

School leaders working to turn around failing schools do one of the hardest jobs in education. It's astonishing really, as they "build the plane while flying it." That doesn't mean their decisions are unquestionable, but if you've never worked in that context you should show

1,258 days since teenage girls have been banned from school. 799 days since women have been barred from university. An entire generation of dreams silenced in Afghanistan. Education is not a privilege. It is a basic human right.

So much is spouted about disadvantaged. What do they need? A calm school & calm classrooms Great teaching Consistency To attend school To work hard & be resilient In short, the same as all other children. They don’t need virtue signalling, low expectations & excuses.

Getting really fed up with a dog barking constantly for the last 40 minutes while I am sitting in my garden! Every time I move I noticed he barks! 👀👀 Oh my world this pet world is beyond me! Frustrating!
