Even an Olympic swimmer couldn't out swim the fastest rip currents, which have been clocked at around 5.5mph. If you get caught in one, don't fight it. Swim parallel to the shore. If you can't escape it, #FloatToLive. If you see someone in trouble, dial 999 for the Coastguard.
