Learn from my yesterday story. I got a needle stick injury while injecting my patient's face. Due to procedure, we both must be examined

My HBsAg titers is nonreactive, while the source (my patient) is reactive in high titers :(

I've got a complete HBV vaccine, but never check the titers. I've just known that the titers was nonreactive. It means not protected yet

Thus, the prophylaxis postexposure procedure must be done : HBIG & HBV-vacc within 12 hours postexposure, then recheck in the next 4 weeks

In any conditions of needle stick injury, a health workers & the source (patient) must be examined both immediately. Be safe.
