A couple of useful and rare programs for controlling the legendary AOR AR5000A - aRFive and ARC5000. This software may someday disappear from the Internet forever. Runs on a virtual machine under Windows XP (32-bit). drive.google.com/drive/folders/…

Many enthusiasts face difficulties when starting the USRP B2x0. Do not follow the instructions on ettus.com; instead, download and run the ready-made distribution spench.net/drupal/files/E…. You can also copy all files into the SDRSharp v.1361 and use the extio file.

The OnSDR SDR is a strange and interesting product from Chinese radio enthusiasts. The ADC ADS5500 has 14-bit resolution and 125Msps. Range: 100KHz-4GHz. aliexpress.com/item/325680870…

I accidentally broke the SMB connector on the antenna of the Inmarsat Nera satellite terminal. The antenna is very good, with a gain of about 16 dBi (EIRP 25 dBW - 8W - 1). I had to replace the connector with an SMA. Interestingly, the side parts don't physically contact.

The excellent sysmocom's L-Band cavity filter 1525-1705 MHz is back on sale. This is not an advertisement. The filter is truly one of the best you can buy. Insertion Loss <= 1dB. shop.sysmocom.de/L-Band-cavity-…

The other day, the author of PhantomSDR released the second version. And it looks amazing! It doesn’t have (sorry) the silly limitations of Twente's WebSDR. It’s faster than the clunky OpenWebRX written in Python. I looked at the program’s code. It’s simple and elegant.

I'm not entirely sure, this recorded recently on August 1, 2025, at a frequency of 460.636 MHz, likely contains operational communications from the SpaceX Crew-11 spacecraft during its launch. The signal exhibits a characteristic Doppler effect. drive.google.com/drive/folders/…

Try listening to 460.635 MHz. Might be able to pick up voice signals from a reusable space capsule. n2yo.com/satellites/?c=…

I bought this dongle to add to my collection, and it be interesting. Nice cast and heavy metal casing. Sensitivity is worse than the V3. It’s detected as an FC0013 chip. I haven’t looked under the cover, but I think it’s a variant with an L-band input. RX (tested) 21.1–1897MHz.

If you use this RTL, keep in mind that sensitivity drops in the lower part of the range, and the reference oscillator frequency may become unstable. Therefore, reliable reception starts at 22 MHz.

I've noticed pirate activity on the Meridians lately. Can listen to the frequencies 484.267–484.268. It's preferable to use a Yagi antenna with at least 3 elements.

Owners of KC901 devices can use the KCSDI software. Carefully read the firmware update instructions, or you might turn the device into a small brick. But it’s not a big deal. My first attempt at updating also failed. I had to remove the batteries.

I use this inexpensive board with a differential amplifier for a loop antenna. It performs very well at frequencies from 4 to 28 MHz. And can compete with LZ1AQ and Wellbrook designs. aliexpress.com/item/100500804…

I think that a circuit based on the AD8367 could be used for a broadband mini-loop amplifier also. aliexpress.com/item/330269290…

I acquired an RX-888 and launched PhantomSDR. I recommend using the PhantomSDR-plus fork - github.com/Steven9101/Nov…. I couldn't properly configure OpenCL to work with the integrated graphics chip of the processor. It's better to use a chip no higher than HD530. Ideally, an Nvidia.
