It always made sense for the NHL to have more teams than other major sports leagues due to it being in 2 countries. Not sure why Atlanta is a better spot than literally any city in Canada though

Does the NHL Expanding to 34 teams water down the league? 97% of the NFL is composed of USA born players. 53 man active rosters. The NHL is 28.7% USA born. Players are being pulled at a much larger scale globally. Growing the sport = growing the quality player pool

NHL going wild today. I'm guessing this 6 year Brad Marchand deal is about 3-4mil a year with a plan to play only 3 of those years and then hit the long term IR / retirement list the final 3 years so he essentially signed a $6-$8mil - 3yr deal, but avoids the cap hit.

EA being acquired and taken private by another company could end up being a really good thing for the NHL franchise. When profit margins and growth aren’t needed to appease shareholders, lots of companies tend to reinvest more into their people and product
