Excellent description of the process of conversion to Christianity in Europe, of how unusual exclusive monotheism is (a “jealous god” that resents worship to other potential deities), and how state formation & technology led to more orthodox & uniform religiosity.

I so admire this. You must have viewpoint diversity to get closer to truth. We talk about a hundred other types of diversity but universities and other liberal leaning infatuations need some thoughtful conservatives (& vice versa). The recent decades show what this absence does.

Here’s why you need ideological diversity. Conservatives catch liberal errors. And vice versa. I don’t mean this in some kumbaya sense. It’s just a humility that your own tribe will get stuff wrong. Diverse takes and free speech aren’t perfect...but they’re the best we’ve got.
