I embarked on a 1.5h bus trip to meet a #familymedicine doctor in Ebene, just south of the capital, Port Louis. The bus is a great way to experience the country, interact with people & hopefully learn some lessons from encounters. #globalprimarycare #GeneralPractice #RCGP

I met with Dr Esha Gopee-Beharee, an Australian-trained #familymedicine doctor with a special interest in women's health. She recently returned to #Mauritius to set-up a much-needed clinic. Family med is a new concept here & has yet to be incorporated into its health system.

Esha & I talked abt the state of women’s health in #Mauritius, incl. having an organised national cervical/breast CA screening programme & improving access to a wide range of HRT & contraception. #GeneralPractice trainees & #First5s can hear Esha's story in an upcoming webinar.

Yaarthi has since taken on important roles incl. Med Unit Dir @ Ministry of Social Security, #Mauritius Med Council Chairperson & #WHO officer.

#GeneralPractice trainees/#First5s & their Japanese counterparts at RCGP Annual Primary Care Conference as part of the Dr Kaizen Project (a collaborative QIP). Kaizen means “good change” & represent a way of life & many small improvements that add up over time.
