Dear writers, I feel I have just enough writerly advice to share but I don't on social. I am going to, especially 4 debut book writers. You could be a successful professional transitioning to writing, not quitting your job. You deserve the help, because you exist. Simple.

'So patriotism is the last refuge of a misogynist.' So good! someone put words in my mouth. + 'so many young people throw away stable jobs to make something of their lives & pursue their dreams.' If my dream ain't becoming an executive coach/corp. manager, dare I dream, now now?

Dear #editors of #books, it's not your job to work on 'good' books; that's the author's prerogative to write one. Your job is to ensure whatever book you get, u r able 2 help the author get better at what they intended & do ur best job. Don't wait for luck 2 deliver a bestseller

Dear #book #writers, I just know it. I know how to sell your book (read) write that compelling blurb which takes a reader, from what-is-this-now to oh-my-god, what-the-hell-is-this-why-did-I-not-know-about-this-book?! PS: obviously, I don't do this for free & I am a natural at it

Dear #fiction #writer, there will always be more writers in your genre than publishers. So talk to each other. Don't just wait for the publisher to recognize your talent.

#Editing is: 1. Acknowledging ur effort in writing 2 recognizing ur creative voice 3. honoring ur trust in us as a professional Editing is not: 1. Delivering wisdom from above 2. Imposing ur own style on the author’s work.

that spiritual type author also frets about all things the normal author does. who will publish etc? so what's the difference? someone has to trust the process. no?

Are there any old Indian women (60+) who never say thins like 'in my time, we used to.. & look at you guys...' someone who doesn't compare unnecessarily+ is articulate, made bold choices. I want to talk to them and maybe who knows they will magically also be writers!

The biggest trade MNC publisher describes themselves as a service provider; that's food for thought. When you provide a service it is at a cost, right? So authors who think they r not charged by traditional publishers need 2 think & recall:U r giving away most of ur earnings.

CEO PRH India, Gaurav Shrinagesh: Authors need to think of why are they writing about X or Y, think of their audience first & they need to have clarity. Fully agree! My 2 cents: AI and Google can't give you that clarity but professional human editors? Yes yes yes!

Funny when you hear both sides of the coin: publishing is in decline but book sales are better. Oh wait stores are shutting but wait children are reading. yes but adults are not. I did hear a 7per cent increase in readership. Am happy with that Chitra Narayanan
