I am truly blessed! My last “super sauce” chemo treatment is today! I will be meeting with a radiologist for radiation treatment on Friday. I feel great and thank everyone for being on this journey with me!

Was honored tonight to take part (lead) in a procession of Central Ohio law enforcement vehicles, Madison Twp Fire & Violet Twp Fire lifting up the spirits of Groveport Police Chief Ralph Portier who is fighting cancer!! Keep up the fight buddy! Many are supporting you!!!

Things I have learned in life: How have treated others? Have I forgiven? Am I paying forward? Have I made a positive change in this world?

According to my most recent text, my surgery is August 20. As Peg and I have said, it is a long and dangerous surgery but the doctor believes it will give me more time! Going to be an all day surgery. Pretty dangerous but better than not taking a chance and only living a year!

Tomorrow is my surgery. It has a been one heck of a journey from the initial cancer diagnosis, months of chemo and radiation to this surgery. This journey will never be forgotten! To all my brothers and sisters in blue, red, yellow and green, stay strong, stay safe!

Post Whipple surgery update: Wanted to let you all know that my follow up went so well the surgeon will not need to be seen for three months! He pulled the tubes out today- pretty damn uncomfortable! Overall a slow recovery but a successful surgery!

More great news! I won't be seeing my medical oncologist for 6 months! They are happy with the surgical outcome. Will have a minor hernia repair October 5 but should be able to get back to work by the end of October!

It saddens me to have to update LODD and Police Officer Suicides for my Dying In Blue lecture. Over 40 years as a First Responder and this year has been the worst for me. Brothers and Sisters, please stay safe!

To all of you, who were instrumental in any portion of my recovery, to my family and friends To the best caretaker ever, Peggy, I love you beyond words! I will be headed back to work on November 17th and look forward to normalcy! Cancer sucks, please continue to pray for them!

Well it’s official, my last work day at Groveport Police is April 28th. After 50 years of Public Service, it is time to move on!
