A statue called “The Hug” in Ashbourne by Neil Hawksworth, depicting the traditional Shrovetide football match that has taken place between the “Up ‘ards” and “Down’ards” since at least 1683. I really must go sometime it looks absolutely bonkers.

Local artist Cal has began immortalising the musical legacy of Stourbridge with band logo murals. The Wonderstuff mural is the size of a cow.

The War Memorial Athletic Ground in Amblecote has been home to Stourbridge FC since 1888, but sadly it’s set lose a lot of its considerable character. “Extremely costly” subsidence remediation work is needed to the embankment on which the grounds’ stands are located.

Kudos to Beecroft Art Gallery for an excellent day on the first ever Southend Is Brutal event. Gives a new appreciation of the fantastic buildings and structures we have in our city from that era of regeneration.

The Beecroft Art Gallery has a superb exhibition on until October celebrating “The Scene by the Sea” and the area’s considerable music and cultural heritage. Well worth a visit for memories from the Mod scene to the Junk Club,
