Nikolaus Schimmel was an inspiration all those who knew him in the piano world. He worked tirelessly on the design and production of Schimmel pianos, but also on the board of the Piano Trade Association establishing early musical education in Germany. RIP Nikolaus.

At present the smallest Wilhelm Schimmel grand piano is 180cm; our customers can rest assured that we will get one of these smart instruments just 166cm long as soon as we can!

Keep the lid up! Sound waves are produced by the vibrations from the sound board and leaving the lid down will generally keep all these beautiful sounds within the box. Our advice is please put the lid up: this will reflect the music out to your audience!
