Genus Russula is very diverse in colour. Distinguishing a specific species is difficult and requires a microscope. Taste is often helpful - the mild ones are edible and acrid and bitter ones are toxic. #nature #ecology #fungi #biodiversity

Today I had the pleasure of visiting the botanical garden at Uni Heidelberg. There is a wonderful collection of bog plants. 1) Drosera intermedia 2) Erica tetralix 3) Narthecium ossifragum 4) Comarum palustre. #peatlands #biodiversity #nature #ecology

Mariusz Bąk from UAM Poznań has just finished his one-month internship at Institute of Geography & Spatial Organization PAS under the supervision of Michał Słowiński. The visit was related to the implementation of a project assessing the impact of industrial peat exploitation on the development of the Wieliszewskie Bagno 🧑‍🔬

I’m analysing the new peat core 😊 The project concerns the impact of industrial peat extraction on development of the Baltic-type raised bog „Wieliszewskie Bagna” in northern Poland. I’m looking forward to the final results. #plantmacrofossils #peatlands #palaeoecology
