A2: I've used low-stakes games and challenges that allows students to explore the question of what works and what doesn't work when you work in a team. Then discussion, writing, and reflection. This routine happening every time they get a new team #pblchat

I've been using jamboard and nearpod to have shared collaboration happen in real time. I'll be having specific zooms for groups to meet with me as well os regular breakout rooms during class meetings. #pblchat

Most of my processes are still the same but everything is SO much slower. Teams really want to do their project, research, and come to class. Engagement isn’t the issue but they’re talking less to each other & are struggling to learn new ways of communicating #pblchat

A1 Still feel like my head is spinning but starting to get students to embrace processes and buy into teams. Exhausted but positive in Austin, TX #pblchat

A1: I established some more non-negotiables around breakout rooms and overall communication expectations such as increased use of email for team communication #pblchat

A2: I’ve been more careful writing rubric and product design overall so that decisions have to be made, this makes it obvious that team discussion is purposeful and necessary #pblchat

A4: although students can’t see their teachers collaborate, I still use examples of collaboration based on what my team teacher and I are doing & I tell them what we did and how we made it work before I have them do the same with their team #pblchat

A3: tools I like for collab: google apps, especially docs, slides, & jamboard, Nearpod’s collaborate board, and zoom breakout rooms #pblchat

A4: our staff shares, chats, and celebrates in collaborative ways on slack since we’re still social-distancing #pblchat

This last week, the Cedars Int. Schools High School Key Club partnered with Land Care in Austin for a school beautification project. Students from every grade level helped out, rolling up their sleeves & earning service hours!
