The future is hopeful, natural & beautiful. If we start to believe it we can realise it - by making changes. I hope to share ideas for how you can do just that!

“Global recognition of this right will help empower local communities to defend their livelihoods, health, and culture against environmental destruction, and help governments develop stronger and more coherent environmental protection laws and policies,”… ift.tt/3AphU4v

Lots of people not professionally involved in climate change may be finding it difficult to understand what is going on at COP26. Many of the people here have no idea either! So I have tried to summarise where we are with three days to go. Hope it may be helpful. 🧵/1

This moose from Sweden has a rare condition named piebaldism which gives him a white coat. I think you'll agree he's amazing. Nature is more incredible then we can ever know. Protect it in all its forms. #ActOnClimate #ClimateAction #Nature #Rewilding #Cop26 #COP26Glasgow

Honestly so fed up with the lies and spin from rich countries that I decided to rip up my speech about the #COP26 cover decision at today’s high level segment & bring the message from @COP26_Coalition into the halls instead

We're coming to the end of COP26. It'sn opportunity for world leaders to make significant changes but we can all take small steps to beat the climate crisis, what change will you make today?✊🏾✊🏿✊🏻 COP26 #TogetherForOurPlanet #COP26Ambition #OneStepGreener

Protestors have staged a "walk out" of the #COP26 blue zone just now - they are calling for more climate justice in the Glasgow agreement currently being drafted

“No matter how hard we try to save the planet, we will not stop the climate crisis with individual efforts. Let’s not fool ourselves, as long as it is possible to choose a cheap flight, people will choose it,” he wrote. 🌍 👉 cutt.ly/NTfw3ZH

Individual and household actions have the potential to produce roughly 25–30 percent of the total emissions reductions needed to avoid dangerous climate change (>1.5°C rise). That is a lot higher than most people realize. drawdown.org/news/insights/…

“What was needed and deserved by children … was a seat at the table to inform the decisions being made that directly affect their lives and futures. Sadly, the young people we work with say COP26 fell short of this,” says Joanna Rea of UNICEF UK. devex.com/news/cop-26-fe…

My day may be ending but ministers and negotiators will be working through the night to reach agreement on the #COP26 texts. May they have strength, wisdom and courage to put aside self-interest and work for the common good of people and planet

#COP26 has closed. Developed countries have failed to take responsibility for the devastation caused by #ClimateChange, leaving the most vulnerable - particularly women and girls - facing a bleak future. careinternational.org.uk/node/632724

Protest is important, but DOING is the priority now. Can your community/employer/team take big serious steps (be ambitious!) to reduce fossil-fueled travel, waste, materials etc? Bug them, but also work to make it happen. This is the hard work of change & we can all contribute.

We can drive even faster emission reductions declines by addressing inequality. Inspired by Kevin Anderson: if the top 1% reduced their emissions by a third over a decade, that alone would meet our 2030 national targets! 19/n
