Recently I learned that many people believe if you appear on a TV news show as a guest, you are paid for your work. Not so. I have been on MSNBC, NBC, CNN, PBS, CBC, Al Jazeera and others and never made a dime. People with contracts to appear exclusively on one network are paid.

Our attention has become a commodity. News today is less about things that allow the reader to act, but instead works to cause readers to become passive observers, only to become less involved in the stories being reported. Reader participation is so overlooked.

I visited Julian #Assange in prison. He has been ill, but his courage is astonishing. He is locked up for up to 23 hours. Let no one doubt he is a political prisoner, fraudulent events in Sweden included. His crime is truthful journalism. Shame on those who feign otherwise.

A very big problem and the blame finger can be exclusively pointed at the funding model of news coverage in the US. Why hold those people accountable that pay the bills?
