A great book, especially if you're into #BeerHistory. “For most of history, farmhouse brewing has been much more common than commercial brewing, and yet somehow this enormous branch of the beer world has been almost totally ignored." Lars Marius Garshol

Here’s the start of a virtual bar crawl through some of the Oshkosh saloons of 1902. I’ll post a new saloon along the crawl every couple of days for the next few weeks. bit.ly/33mkV8E

Here’s the fifth stop on the 1902 Oshkosh Saloon Crawl… This place is one of Oshkosh’s oldest, continually operating bars. It’s been going since at least 1883. bit.ly/2PD09tA

In cities like Oshkosh, where lager beer brewing has managed to hold on, Oktoberfest-style beers occupy about the same space that bock beers once did... Oshkosh Beer: Our Bock is Oktoberfest oshkoshbeer.blogspot.com/2020/08/our-bo…

That's 25 years of brewing logs from Fox River Brewing Co 🍻. A large slice of Oshkosh craft beer history is held in those binders. Looking forward to digging in...

Silas Allen was Winnebago County's first hop grower. He came here from New York in 1846. I found his farm using old land records and county maps. This plant is from that site. I've been growing and brewing with these hops since 2013. They’re off to a good start this year!

Been helping local brewers with recipes for old styles of beer for about 10 years now. I'm sure we’re only scratching the surface. Malts are so different. For homebrews I shoot for the basic parameters. Here's my take on the 1870s Vienna lagers made in Oshkosh. Maybe it's close?
