The Lakewood Branch will have a delayed opening of 2pm today, Wednesday, July 9, 2025 due to maintenance.

The Library will be performing network maintenance on Friday, July 18, 2025 between 5PM and 7PM. During this time access to the Library catalog and e-materials will be unavailable. E-materials already checked out will not be affected.

The Whiting Reading Center is closing at 3:45pm today, Thursday, July 31st due to power loss.

Due to inclement weather the Ocean County Library system will be closing at 6pm tonight, Thursday, July 31st.

Ocean County Library will be closed Sunday, August 31st and Monday, September 1st in honor of Labor Day.

The Island Heights Branch will have a delayed opening at 1:00pm today, Wednesday, September 3rd, for maintenance.

The Brick Branch is closed and will reopen at 1:00pm today, Thursday, September 18th.

On September 19, 1925 the Ocean County Library opened its doors to the public from a small cottage, known as the Lonan Building. We began operations with only 1 location, open 1 day a week, and our bookmobile to serve our rural county of 28,000! #OCL100Years

The Lakewood Branch of the Ocean County Library will be temporarily closed for a full roof replacement starting Monday, October 6 with an anticipated reopening on Monday, October 13, weather permitting. Items on hold at the Lakewood Branch will be sent to the Brick Branch.

Our Bay Head Express location will be closed on Monday, October 13, 2025 for Columbus Day.

The Ocean County Library system will be closed on Sunday, October 12, 2025 due to inclement weather.

The Long Beach Island Branch will be closed on Monday, October 13th, due to inclement weather.

The Long Beach Island Branch & Bay Head Express are closed today, Thursday, October 30th, due to inclement weather.

The Ocean County Library will have a delayed opening Friday, November 7th for its annual Staff In-Service. Branches will open at 1pm. We encourage our customers to use the library’s online resources including databases, eBooks, eMagazines, and online classes.

On Tuesday, November 11, 2025 the Ocean County Library will be closed in honor of Veterans Day. Branches will resume normal hours on Wednesday, November 12.

The Upper Shores Branch will be closing tonight, November 12, 2025 at 6:00PM for maintenance.

All Branches will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 27.
