Being a doctor is wild sometimes. Like, I’m an adult who can do surgery and cut one human out of another human but ask me to do my own taxes and I no longer know how to adult 🥴

I've said it once and I will say it again: My husband is a doctor. I'm a lawyer. The fact that together we cannot figure out our health insurance coverage and documents really says something about American healthcare.

Why are many doctors irked by “wellness” initiatives like modules or yoga sessions, even well-meaning ones? Burnout is not a resilience problem. It’s a systems-level problem that comes from chronic workplace stress. It won’t be solved by individual-level solutions.

Superficial strategies to address physician wellness that don’t address systemic factors (such as admin burden, sleep deprivation, overwork, toxic cultures, or mental health stigma) can worsen burnout, cause resentment, and make us lose trust in our leaders.

People got really worked up when I described this as fascism. Here they are violently displacing marginalized citizens who have committed no crimes and destroying their belongings. This is simply traumatizing vulnerable people so NIMBYs don’t have to see them. This fixes nothing.
