While a few showers are possible tomorrow morning as a warm front moves through the region, it is not until the afternoon and evening hours that the greatest coverage of showers and storms are expected. Locally heavy rainfall and isolated gusty winds cannot be ruled out.

Strong to Severe Thunderstorms with heavy downpours will be possible on Saturday. The greatest chance for storms will be east of the Genesee Valley from the late morning through the early evening. Strong to damaging winds is the primary threat with any thunderstorms that develop.

A cold front is moving across NY today. Showers and thunderstorms are expected this afternoon and evening, mainly for areas west of I-87. Local storms could lead to ponding water in urban/poor-drainage areas and isolated flash flooding. Be weather aware and monitor your forecast.

High pressure will gradually weaken over the area today as a frontal system approaches from the west. The daylight hours will likely be dry, with highs in the upper 70s to lower 80s. Showers and thunderstorms move through the area from west to east this evening and overnight.

[Radar loop 8:34am to 9:11am] Light showers can be seen moving through the area currently. Expect scattered shower activity through much of the day, with a chance of thunderstorms. The area dries out from west to east late this afternoon, with clearing skies.

The forecast remains on track for a line of showers to move through the North Country and Vermont this afternoon and evening. Gusty winds up to 40 mph, brief heavy rain, and maybe a rumble of thunder can be expected within any of these showers.

[2:40PM Radar] A cold front with a broken line of showers and thunderstorms is beginning to move through the forecast area this afternoon. Isolated damaging wind gusts will be a possibility in any stronger storms that form, mainly east of the Genesee Valley to the North Country.
