September 1st 1966, The Byrds played the first of an 11-night run at the Whisky-A-Go-Go, Hollywood. The club opened in 1964. David Crosby took sick after the opening night so ex-Byrd Gene Clark, who had left the band earlier in the year, stepped in to temporarily replace Crosby.
