Yesterday, my account was hacked for a while and strangely, my most viral tweet was deleted. So here it is, updated for 2025 for science and health-illiterates. To summarize: 1. One whole egg with yolk a day does not increase blood cholesterol 2. Green tea does not help

New 2025 guidelines for sickle cell emergencies just dropped. Start protocolized opioids early for VOC. Incentive spirometry helps prevent ACS. Transfuse for ACS, stroke, or organ failure—but not routine VOC. Avoid steroids. 🎩 tip to the authors. eddyjoemd.com/foamed

Thank you The Lancet Rheumatology for the opportunity to discuss the current evidence towards #Precision medicine in #Antiphospholipid syndrome, a rare disorder with therapeutic unmet needs.

Nerandomilast: the new & improved nintedanib. Does it work for our rheum pts? Autoimmune subgroup of FIBRONEER-ILD (NEJM last month) - mortality benefit vs placebo (this is new) - well tolerated (minimal increase in diarrhoea vs placebo) One to watch #EULAR2025 LB0003 Dr. John Cush

Do not routinely and randomly check for vitamin D levels. If found incidentally low, do not routinely start taking vitamin D supplements. Yes, vitamin D supplement intake increases vitamin D levels (duh!)… …but it does not impact health in any clinically meaningful way in

Peter’s Pearls in vasculitis - Dr Merkel noted: 1. Do NOT follow ANCA titers 2. Anti-PR3 ANCA more likely to relapse 3. ANCA+ EGPA behaves like GPA/MPA 4. Don’t delay is there is Pulm hemorrhage/ RPGN 5. Steroids save lives in the short term #CCRwest Dr. John Cush

🫁New in #CritCare This physiological study compares driving pressure-based vs. oxygenation-based PEEP strategies. Clinical PEEP titration showed better respiratory mechanics and lower lung stress—especially in moderate-severe ARDS. 🔗ccforum.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.11… Jean-Louis Vincent

Here is an interesting case. Another reminder that a good diagnostician never relies on a single piece of data to make a diagnosis. Your job is to integrate all the clues. A lab value doesn’t make the diagnosis. A radiologist doesn’t make the diagnosis. You do. Sherlock Holmes
