Lots of apps ported to GTK4, and new templates for GNOME Builder. There’s no better time to start using GTK4 for your projects.

NVidia just announced that they are open sourceing their kernel driver, wrote a little blog post explaining what that means for Linux - #linux blogs.gnome.org/uraeus/2022/05…

We're thinking of proposing using amdgpu for SI and CKI GPUs instead of radeon, since it supports Vulkan, with the trade off that VGA/DVI won't be supported. Do you actively use a display with only VGA and/or DVI ports?

What Red Hat RHEL groups did well is to adapt a mindset to our needs, and not simply copy the implementation. I think many companies simply copy the implementation expecting a panacea. Stay flexi.

Nice to see Red Hat as the third biggest contributor to Mozilla. These are mostly commits by Martin and Jan that are working hard on Wayland and various hardware acceleration improvements on Linux.

Today’s social media status quo isn’t cutting it, so Mozilla is exploring an alternative. In early 2023, Mozilla will be testing a publicly accessible instance in the Fediverse at Mozilla.Social (1/3)

👋 We're organizing a Display/HDR hackfest in a couple of months with various IHVs and linux gpu engineers to further develop an HDR linux stack solution that works across vendors/platforms, it would be great to have Valve participating! More info wiki.gnome.org/Hackfests/Shel….

Continuing discussion on color management in Wayland (after x.com/tonroosendaal/…). Getting amazing feedback from Blender and GIMP: "really glad this has been so well thought out, a great job from the Wayland developers!"

I wrote a blog post about the state of PipeWire Project camera support in Firefox 🔥. It's been almost two months since I posted a screenshot of myself with the first prototype in action so about a time to write something about it. jgrulich.cz/2023/05/29/pip…

Olivier, Jonas and Niels from the team and other RH folks have been working for a couple of years with JetBrains and Oracle on this broader Wakefield OpenJDK effort, our focus on libei came in part because of this collaboration. Glad it's showing results! phoronix.com/news/IntelliJ-…

It was suspected from day one that law enforcement wants full access to all non-filtered positives triggered by the AI (meaning millions of pictures per day). Journalists found hard evidence. And the content can also be used for other crimes (terrorism, organized crime).... 1/2

For those with Nvidia GPUs: With Wayland-protocols explicit sync + Mutter explicit sync support + NVIDIA driver supporting explicit sync, GNOME Wayland should work withouth major glitches. Thanks to RH's Michel, Olivier, Carlos; and Nvidia folks, Simon, and the rest of community.
