Wrote a blog post for Changing Global Orders mainly on the sixth chapter of my book ("Varying Historical Impacts of Resource Endowment"). Check it out if you're interested in how oil, coal, natural gas, and precious metals have affected territoriality.
Last week, we hosted a book talk with PSA Environment & SOAS Politics where we learned more about Naosuke Mukoyama (Nao)'s latest book - "Fueling Sovereignty" published by Cambridge University Press. We learned so much abt the Bruneian colonial politics of oil - rather fittingly in the Brunei Gallery SOAS exhibitions!
What was oil sovereignty in the past will be Lithium (manganese, tungsten, etc) sovereignty in the future. Check out this article by Misha Glenny on European-Chinese competition over Lithium in Serbia. (link via Sophia Gaston) ft.com/content/91bf13…
