We've been bringing the excitement of science to music festivals for 10 years 🥳! Of course we'll be celebrating the #FestivalBugs' birthday 🎂 in the Science Futures area of #Glastonbury, created by our founder Emma Sayer @panemma! 📰 Read about it: lancaster.ac.uk/news/universit…
Working with #OurUplandCommons project, with Lancaster Environment Centre and PhD student Sophie Mowbray, on Derwent Common #LakeDistrict today. To reaffirm presence of Mountain Ringlet butterflies, didn’t find them at a few 550m sites but did record over 14 above 600m. Perfect day for it.
Lepidopterists 113 years apart outside the #DerbyArms inn, Witherslack, Cumbria. The pic hangs in the bar. Yesterday, Butterfly Conservation 🦋 Butterfly Conservation staff outside the pub after day surveying rare species Stanley Estates Forestry England and Methop Moss CumbriaWildlifeTrust
Seeing hills thick with regenerating trees, a rewiggled river showing #rewilding's many benefits and meadows buzzing with life made a dream visit to Wild Haweswater 🏔️ Thanks @leeinthelakes United Utilities RSPB for sharing its wonderful – and still unfolding – story.
Fabulous work going on in #Cumbria by #rspb for wildlife and Butterfly Conservation 🦋.
Surveying rare High Brown Fritillary butterflies in #cumbria, but cloudy with showers… I’ll just have to listen to exciting England cricket Test Match Special …. Another 6! Marvellous
What a super day I had at Butterfly Conservation 🦋 #myersallotment reserve in Silverdale, North Lancashire. Met the A-team’ers stepping in to help out the Butterfly Conservations volunteer reserves officer. Thanks for all the above-and-beyond effort guys.
In such a bad year for butterflies, it’s nice to see our priority species Northern Brown Argus butterfly doing ok at #myersallotment Butterfly Conservation 🦋 last week. Great management by the fantastic volunteer team, the grazier @grazingmatters and the landowner leighton hall
Time for 2024 Lancaster autumn butterfly survey, Lancaster City Council, checking the ivy and the last buddeia flowers along the alleys and the canal. Huge decline in numbers just 12 Red Admirals, 2 Comma and only 1 Peacock butterfly, in 2018 we saw average of 90! #ButterflyEmergency
Brilliant butterfly research day today Lancaster Environment Centre hearing young people do fantastic science on priority species like #HighBrown, #MarshFritillary, #NettedCarpet and Northern Butterflies and Moths! Thanks to Butterfly Conservation 🦋 Dan Hoare for starting the day
Great research from Rosa Menendez, Clementine Larter and Tom Kenny on #BrownHairsteak butterflies. Also N2 effects on Butterflies by Hannah Risser, and Justin Patton on finding Least Minor moth larva. Today at student research conference Lancaster Environment Centre with Butterfly Conservation 🦋
