How does it feel to sing or play a game with a stranger? Come along to our activity at #ImperialLates and find out how a sense of connectedness is shaped by how we communicate with each other. Royal College of Music
Alongside our amazing conductors, this Sunday's Festival will include our first public demonstrations of the simulated audiences and acoustics in the brand new Royal College of Music Performance Laboratory. Don't miss your chance to experience these one-of-a-kind facilities in person!
A major milestone this week as we cut the ribbon on the new Royal College of Music Performance Laboratory. Thank you to all of the guests who shared this evening with us. In particular, to Tao Chang from our funder Arts and Humanities Research Council who spoke passionately about the power of the arts to innovate.
A great array of CPS research in this term's Upbeat including Aaron Williamon and George Waddell on the new Performance Lab, several Music and Wellbeing projects led by Prof Rosie Perkins, Neta Spiro, & Tania Lisboa, and PhD publications by Ugne Peistaraite and Rebecca Herman.
Dr Neta Spiro, RCM Reader in Performance Science, was invited to showcase her research at the Science Museum Love Lates event. ‘Brief Encounters’ used singing and conversation as forms of interaction to explore how our sense of connectedness is shaped by how we communicate.
Following on our Arts and Humanities Research Council Performance Laboratories upgrade, we've been hard at work over the last three weeks moving the smaller of our two Royal College of Music Labs to a new space in the heart of the building, doubling our capacity to study and train performance with the latest tech.
