The IEBC’s suggestion that Kenyans lack the right to recall Members of Parliament without enabling legislation is misleading. The right to recall is already enshrined in the Constitution, and its exercise does not depend on the existence of additional legislation.

The state is again narrowing down issues to moral ones - instead of looking at the social & health aspects; I.e in this new attempt to regulate alcohol abuse and alcoholism. For example, in a market saturated with illicit brews & expensive rehabilitation, such policy is useless.

Allow me to disagree. IEBC is deliberately subverting the Constitution & the right to recall. The court in 2018 was clear the recall provisions in the Elections Act were the law required under Art. 104(2). The current position is that no grounds are required for a recall.

They would NEVER. This sets a precedent of accountability, and because those currently in govt are also stealing, they can’t have that. So Uhuru gets away with it because those in power rn also want to get away with their crimes.

Sadly, IEBC is laying traps for citizens to move to court to challenge its unconstitutional position. It'll then oppose the petition & string out the process until time runs out. If IEBC thinks there's a loophole, it can seek an Advisory Opinion from the Supreme Court.

I agree with everyone saying we should buy rice directly from Mwema farmers in protest of this AND also we need to be holding KEBS more accountable. ‘Imports to be certified by KEBS’ sounds more like a directive to me. For all we know this is probably 500,000 tones of toxic rice.
