Every one who depends on purified plasmid for anything they do needs to read and think about that paper. ... and every cloner needs to functionally work that in to how they screen and QC their plasmids before the next step

Planarians are model systems for stem cells & regeneration. Ivanković et al. provide new genome assemblies of S. mediterranea & 3 relatives, showing that synteny is not an evolutionary constraint in flatworm genome evolution. The new PacBio SPRQ chemistry for the Revio system has some big advantages for micro and #metagenomics: - Input requirement drops from 2 micrograms to 500 nanograms (per SMRT cell) - 30% increase yield per cell (~90Gb -> 120Gb) pacb.com/press_releases…

In #NextGenSequencing news, Oxford Oxford Nanopore presented at #ASHG24, including the new flow cell chemistry that gives more robust yields for a wider range of insert sizes. The R&D version increases yield by 33% (150Gb) over the released version for a 30kb human DNA sample.

1/? 🧬 New Breakthrough in Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD)! Our new paper in nature reveals how utrophin—a dystrophin “backup”—is upregulated in DMD. The key? Transcriptional adaptation (TA), triggered by mutant mRNA decay, not protein loss. 🔗 doi.org/10.1038/s41586…
