More from today’s land-based learning with UIEC_TDSB @EGBrickWorks: Listening to groundwater, noticing a bullfrog, viewing some resources and sensory items like beaver fur, and making seed balls to grow native plants!

Last week, some of Clairlea PS Ss had the privilege of watching PanFest organized by TDSB ARTS Dance Drama Music Media Arts Visual Arts! Well done to all the schools that performed on the steel pans and thank you to the Arts Department for providing this opportunity!

This session changed the outlook I had on the dandelion. I learned about the benefits of all parts of a dandelion, how Indigenous people cherish this plant and how we can even use it to inquire about math with the building thinking classrooms pedagogy! Miigwetch💚 UIEC_TDSB!!

On the final day of our PD session, Land-Based Learning in the Early Years, we looked at the similarities/differences between land-based learning, place-based learning, and outdoor education. ⁦Sean Gale⁩ ⁦UIEC_TDSB⁩ Sierra Ainsley.

It was also great to have local small businesses set up their vendor tables! Can’t wait for next year’s Fun Fair!

It was so cool seeing X Movement and their AussieX team teach our Clairlea PS students how to play Australian football using the footy (their version of a football) this week! Elaine Y

Thank you Beginning Teachers & Apple Education for giving us the opportunity to collaborate alongside BTs to enhance our pedagogy of assessment with technology! A great session learning how to use the keynote app as a resourceful tool for Ss to demonstrate their learning effectively!
