Someone needs to do a Google Maps, but for the past. For example, typing in "London to York" but you can select a period e.g. 1450s, and it would give you the likeliest route. That'd be great.

“The disparity between the numbers of women’s and men’s plaques starkly illustrates the historical exclusion of women: of more than 990 plaques currently in place in London, about 85% commemorate men.” This echos the history curriculum. theguardian.com/society/2023/m…

Today I found myself explaining American West cattle drives to my 7 month old. Looking forward to starting my new history teacher job in September.

Reading Mrs Thorne's chapter on consequences has me itching to get planning. Also how have I never taught the Russian Revolution? It feels like I'm missing a key square on history teacher bingo

I can see so many possibilities for the voices of the victorian poor, what rich sources. Love that it can be adapted for local studies too. #vSHP23 off to an excellent start. Thanks Ben Walsh Andrew Payne

I am pretty sure I have Y11 on a Friday afternoon next year, so Historyis Fun workshop was perfect - packed with ideas for retrieval I haven't tried before including the use of podcasts in lessons. #vSHP23

workshop on indigenous voices from d c was crammed full of knowledge, and provided simple ways of reframing AW by challenging accepted images and terminology, even in the #Edexcel spec! #vSHP23

Induction day tomorrow and my Positive Teacher Co. planner arrived yesterday. Pre-filled dates are such a time saver, not to mention how gosh darn pretty it is 😍

"Whether a degree is good or bad value depends not just on your salary but on how it changes your life." As Rishi Sunak plans to end 'rip-off degrees', Andrew Marr says it feels "remarkably reductive" to judge a degree by its financial outcome.

First day leaving the baby and going into to work. 8 whole hours away from him. I've been harping on about how "work is a BREAK from parenting" to my husband for months. I think in my head I was going to chat to colleagues, eat in peace, and generally enjoy myself. And I did.

I adore #HeartstopperS2 but watching as a teacher is painful. -GCSE history coursework essays -Y10 and Y11 parents eve on same night -Silent study hall, exam desks used. Put in PAIRS for silent work -allowing a student into study hall because he "had to return a pen"

I'm teaching Weimar and Nazi Germany for the first time and want to put together a list of books (fiction and non) films, documentaries students could look at to further their knowledge. Any suggestions? #historyteacher

On route to 2000trees Festival had a flying visit to M Shed, I've not been since Colston was added. Great to see him with some context, a vast improvement to being on a plinth. Loved the People of Bristol exhibition, and my kid was a fan of the dinosaur that looked like Bristol.
