First graders Stevenson School created pictures of snowmen from above. I LOVE how these turned out! They painted backgrounds, cut different sized circles, and added lots of fun details with drawing, cutting, and gluing. They learned what "aerial view" means too. Great work!
Second graders Stevenson School worked hard on these beautiful cardinal in winter pictures. We drew branches with oil pastel, then painted snow and glued on their cardinal drawings. Students were excited to add a little sparkle to their pictures too!
Students York Center School created towers with marshmallows and toothpicks this week in art. We talked about how to plan, create, and problem solve as the towers were built. The tallest tower award went to a third grade team! The hardest part was not eating the marshmallows😂
We've been busy with clay in the York Center School art room these past few weeks! Clay is something everyone loves creating with in art class. Third grade students made clay roses, fourth grade made pinch pot monsters, and fifth grade designed coil pots. Wonderful work everyone!
Fifth graders York Center School are working hard finishing their mixed media self-portraits in art this week. This is always a favorite project! Some students are also starting artwork on the ceiling tiles - something they've been looking forward to for years now!
Third graders York Center School are working on self-portraits in art class. Students drew half of their face, and we are focusing on facial proportions, mixing skin tones, and adding personal details. They are turning out amazing!
Excited for Open House Stevenson School tonight! Come find your artwork displayed and visit me in the art room to show off your portfolio and do some drawing!
I'm so excited to share that one of my Stevenson School Kindergarten students had his artwork chosen for the 2023-24 IAEA student art show! I am so proud of him and can't wait to celebrate his accomplishment at the Illinois Art show in the fall! #IAEAstudentshow School District 45
What a beautiful day for second graders Stevenson School to have their field day! Mrs. Crowe planned fun activities and the students enjoyed popsicles and playing at the park! Katie Crowe
Beautiful day for Field Day York Center School! Thanks to Katie Crowe for planning the fun activities and to the PTA for the popsicles!
Students York Center School all started the year by drawing a mini monochromatic portrait. I made portraits of all the teachers at York Center too 😀 Great first project YC artists!
Students Stevenson School all started the year in art with reading the book "You Be You" and designing a fish. The book talks about how everyone is unique and special. Great job Stevenson artists!
Finally sharing our "One School One Book" inspired art projects from York Center School! Students all read the book "Ways to Make Sunshine," and in art class each grade created a sun inspired artwork. I love how the halls are filled with sunshine right now!
So excited to share these first kindergarten art projects! Kindergarten students Stevenson School are working on using simple shapes and trying out paint for the first time. We read the book "Don't let the Pigeon Drive the Bus" and drew our own pigeons. Great job kinder artists!
First graders Stevenson School worked so hard on these beautiful sunflower paintings! Students learned about Vincent Van Gogh and created their own vase with sunflowers. We talked about different lines artists use while drawing and how to blend with paints.
Have to share these beautiful fall landscape paintings before it's time to take them down! 5th graders York Center School always wow me with their work on these beautiful birch trees. They learn about using a resist and adding textures with watercolors. One of my favorite projects!
Second graders Stevenson School learned about landscapes and pointillism in this project. They blended oil pastels to create shadows and highlights, and added leaves with small dots of paint. Nice work second grade!
Students York Center School are creating black light artwork this week! We are having so much fun using neon art supplies to make our work glow in the dark. Fifth graders are working on jellyfish, fourth grade is doing lava lamps, and third graders created owls. Great work!
Open House York Center School last week was so much fun! We had a black light art show for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. Each grade created neon artwork that glowed in the black lights. They all looked amazing displayed together!
At Open house students could also come into the art room York Center School and color a glow in the dark lion in the black lights. My daughter enjoyed coming and coloring too!
