Underfunding is a massive problem. It means services, schools, and teachers are overstretched and poorly supported. It is not, however, an excuse for a lack of empathy, care or effort. Just because the government is failing our children, doesn’t mean we have to too.

There are those for whom teaching is a passion - relentless in their determination to do the very best they can for their students. For others, it's just a job.

‘Safeguarding thresholds’ are infuriating. Apparently, safeguarding only exists when it is too late. Too many children are hurt, let down, or able to go missing all because their needs or circumstances aren’t ‘severe’ enough on paper.

Note to schools: This is not “parental conflict”. This is not a “sensitive” parent. This is not “what is best for the children”. This is abuse.

Is there any part of this country that isn’t broken? Education? Broken. Police? Broken. Transport? Broken. NHS? Broken. Social Care? Broken. Environment? Broken. Economy? Broken. Housing Market? Broken. The government that caused it all? Broken. But Brexit was good, right?

School have now deemed that there is a safeguarding concern: That concern is mum. You honestly could not write it. I am in compete and utter disbelief at their incompetence. She now faces losing her children. The children she spent 12 years protecting from his abuse.

An absent father is ALWAYS better than an abusive father.

“Help, an animal is in danger.” RSPCA: “We will investigate this immediately.” “Help, a child is in danger.” Children’s Services: “Sorry, it doesn’t meet our threshold.”

An incredible amount of support, thank you. Regardless of your occupation, please find the time to educate yourself on domestic abuse and coercive control. I like to think I am quite well educated and compassionate, however there was so much I was naive to. It is horrific.

Update: Headteacher has sent email to staff stating that any safeguarding concerns should NOT be logged on the system (CPOMS), but instead should be reported to him. Mum has since received SAR and there are no safeguarding concerns now logged on CPOMS. Is this legal?

Coercive control is NOT parental alienation. Parental alienation is NOT coercive control. Simples.

Dad has to be made aware of Early Help Assessment because: “Dad is violent, so it is unsafe to ask the children to keep secrets from him.” However, there are “no safeguarding concerns.” If these children weren’t in danger, it would be laughable.

As teacher transfer deadline day approaches, I’d like to list myself as a free agent for September. Can play any position in KS2, but could slot in to a KS1 multi-form-entry system. Any schools in Lincolnshire looking for a primary teacher who can hit a top bins in brogues?

If your practice causes someone to require mental health and well-being support: The solution isn’t to provide that support. The solution is to change your practice.

Unpopular opinion: Primary school children threatening violence upon others is not just “kids being kids” It is the start of something quite dangerous and it needs to be addressed.

At what point does “kids being kids” become “adults being abusers”? Can they really be blamed as an adult if it is excused when they are a child?

I was on virtual training today. 👨‍🎓 After 40 minutes, I couldn’t sit and concentrate any longer. So I switched my camera off, and folded laundry while listening along. As an adult, that’s smart. As a kid, that’s defiant, disruptive, and worthy of punishment.
