🧵 1/5 8 years ago, I gave birth to my first daughter. As a Black woman, I quickly realised my race had everything to do with the lack of care, attention, and inadequate treatment I received during my maternal and post-natal experience. This realisation led me to start

2/8 Today, I'm both humbled and determined as we prepare for our 5th annual Black Maternal Mental Health Week UK, taking place September 23-29, 2024. It's especially needed after the birth of my 3rd daughter, where I haven't seen much change on the ground.

3/8 This journey has shown me the critical need to address the disparities Black women face in maternal mental health. In our support groups, I've heard countless stories of women feeling unheard, unsupported, and often traumatised by their experiences.
