When Israel is carrying out a genocidal assault on Gaza, we need to ban ALL arms licences to Israel, not just a small fraction of licences.

still amused at the visual of protestors in US/Canada loudly demanding their universities divest from the Russian war machine and the admin responding with either (1) "Oh ok sure" or (2) "we don't have any investments in the Russian war machine" and it lasting about 20 minutes

one reason why there were no sustained campus protests against Russia after Russia invaded Ukraine is that the few universities that had financial ties to Russia quickly severed them. So these protests would be a non sequitur per the... logic of protesting insidehighered.com/news/2022/03/0…

That's because colleges divested from Russia because, you know, the reasonable and obvious moral postulate that colleges shouldn't invest in countries carrying out ongoing war crimes. That demand that suddenly and inexplicably got turned into a form of racism last fall.

We started the conference with a practical look at how #MMT can inform public discourse on migration. Prof. Peo Hansen analysed the debate in Sweden in which migrants were classified as fiscal assets and liabilities. x.com/DEhnts/status/…

David Merrill then continued with a more philosophical examination of what Hegel can tell us about #MMT and Economic Ethics. x.com/DEhnts/status/…

Prof. Doris Neuberger showed us how banks reacted to the recent rate hikes and how policy in Germany failed to protect the interests of customers. She also discussed several alternatives for policy-making, such as regulation, taxing windfall profits and offering public options.
