Preschool is talking about boats this week. We are conducting a series of water related experiments in the discovery center. Here, the students are counting how many coins they can place on their boats before the boats sink. Then they are documenting their findings! 🛶

The preschoolers enjoy participating in weekly music therapy, led by Ms. Jess! They participate in hands on music & movement songs and activities, as well as, explore instruments. Here they are singing an autumn song! 🍂

Our Preschool Dad's Night last Friday was a success! Over 50 Dads and their students rotated through stations building each side of their box car. They drove through a car wash obstacle course and finished the evening with a drive in movie, popcorn, and juice! 🚗

Preschool's food study is in full swing for the month of November! We are using food as the topic to engage in math, literacy, fine motor & social emotional learning which is built into our learning centers. Who is hungry? 🍎🍔🥕

During our food study, we read a book about how popcorn comes from the kernels of corn. When the dry kernels are placed on heat, they expand and combust into popcorn! We tried it out for ourselves and enjoyed it as our snack!

In the discovery center this week, students are using balance scales to compare the weights of real produce. Then, they document their findings and bring it home to show their family!

Our 2024 Thankful Turkey! Each feather was made at home with our families. Some notable things we are thankful for include trains, the racing game, grandparents and babies! Our preschool has so much to be thankful for!

Preschool enjoyed a 4 course feast for snack today! We ate it all together as a preschool family! Happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate. Have a safe break!

Our box study continues! This week we are building with actual boxes! We have made race tracks, towers, and caves to live inside. Team work is essential to managing these large building blocks.

Happy new year from preschool! We were excited to get back into the classroom this week and start our snow and ice study. Pretend play this week includes going to the ice skating rink, making hot chocolate, and wearing winter gear.

We introduced new learning centers this week including: a winter themed tea party, cold to the touch snow math bins, and a new turn taking game- Candy Land! We even sang an Elsa song: the cold never bothered us anyway ❄️

This week, the students used unifix cubes to measure the height or length of various pets using 1:1 correspondence to count each block. They then wrote the numeral on their documentation sheet!

The preschoolers did friendship painting at the art center. They invited a friend to paint with them and practiced sharing space and materials, as well as, communicating their ideas of what to paint to each other!

Preschoolers using the communication picture board on the playground to communicate, connect, and play! A student pointed to the "let's race" picture and off they went!
