This is a single exposure from yesterday's eclipse. When processed to bring up the shadows and reduce the highlights, the moon itself becomes visible.

Faint green and purple Aurora glow on the northern horizon over downtown Raleigh around 3:30 AM. These weren't as bright as the those visible around 9:45 PM. Untimely clouds blocked the view for most right after dark. Here's hoping tonight offers another opportunity.

I tell my two boys to recognize and appreciate fleeting moments because you never know when you'll experience them again. Last time I was able to capture the Aurora Borealis in Raleigh, I wouldn't have a kid until 10 years later. Now that kid IS 10 years old.

Fallen Crepe Myrtle blooms providing splashes of color all around Raleigh this week. With all of our recent rain, the petals accumulate more densely, causing temporary vibrant displays on sidewalks and crosswalks.
