Good news, Aggies: There will be no Silver Taps tonight!

Today I wasn’t preaching. It is Spring Break/Daylight Savings. No children’s programming. The room was noisy! I loved it. All these heroic parents who felt that showing up for worship and the Word was worth it, even when it meant wrangling small kids for an hour! Gave me hope.

What I wish I could tell my younger self: As a preacher, if you’re aiming be likable, that’s an easy target to hit. Your sermons will be pleasant and enjoyable. But they won’t be powerful or transformative. For that, you’ll have to love people enough to risk their disapproval.

This honestly would’ve helped me in Dr. Wallace’s Advanced Greek class 20+ years ago.
