Super star 3rd year fellow #BenParker presents not one but two amazing operations projects at #CHEST2023 PennPulmonaryFellowship. So much to accomplish in such a short time!
Thrilled to present the next Penn Pulmonary and Critical Care fellowship class! They are already exceptional and are on their way to being true leaders in our field! PennPulmonaryFellowship

One of my favorite events- the ILD PG course at ATS. Here is the Tough Cases panel with lots of fun ILD faculty #ATS2024 PennPulmonaryFellowship
Time to start showing off PennPulmonaryFellowship - Christopher Chesley, recent alum starts off a session on disparities highlighting the importance of representativeness in research. #ATS2024 American Thoracic Society (ATS)
Current PennPulmonaryFellowship fellow #LizLevy presents two different abstracts - one on the use of S/f ratio to identify ARDS and another on automated ARDS identification in the EMR. Such great work! #ATS2024
Current PennPulmonaryFellowship Chief Fellow #ChrisCaruso presents his work looking at non malignant nodules diagnosed through surgery in lung cancer screening. This guy is already a rock star in lung cancer screening- can’t wait to see what he does next! #ATS2024
Recent PennPulmonaryFellowship Chief Fellow Steph Van Decker presents her work on creating a pathway for eating disorder screening and treatment in adult inpatients. Often overlooked and so important. Just one of many great things she has done as a fellow. Such a super star! #ATS2024
Such great support by PennPulmonaryFellowship fellows for fellows (and one faculty member Meeta Prasad Kerlin). Love the community! #ATS2024 American Thoracic Society (ATS)
So incredibly proud of #EnoEssien. Recent alumni and winner of ATS Bear Cage 2024 for her nanoparticles for ARDS therapy. Such impressive work and such an impressive woman. Keep an eye on her - she is going to go far! PennPulmonaryFellowship #ATS2024 American Thoracic Society (ATS)
Former chief fellow Rachel Bennett presenting a latent class analysis that identified 2 endotypes of respiratory failure in sepsis. Such a great start to her research career! PennPulmonaryFellowship #ATS2024
Next up, third year fellow extraordinaire Willy Roque Barboza, MD shares his work about a novel population of fibroblasts in a mouse model of IPF. Making PennPulmonaryFellowship look good! #ATS2024 American Thoracic Society (ATS)
Sharing his study on the clinical outcomes and racial disparities of a dedicated pulmonary service Bhavik Patel continues to impress. He has a bright future in disparities research- keep an eye on him! PennPulmonaryFellowship #ATS2024 American Thoracic Society (ATS)
Second year fellow Mary Barrosse-Antle presents a diagnostic challenge that didn’t stump her for long! Her clinical acumen as a chief resident for University of Penn IM Residency Program carries strong into PennPulmonaryFellowship #ATS2024 ATS Clinical Problems Assembly American Thoracic Society (ATS)
Third year all star fellow Julian Rose both moderated and presented at a mini symposia on disparities in asthma care. I’m impressed (and proud)! PennPulmonaryFellowship #ATS2024 American Thoracic Society (ATS)
My very favorite part of being a program director are the fellows! ATS provides an opportunity to spend time with current and former fellow. This is amazing third year class who are truly remarkable. Recharges me for another year! PennPulmonaryFellowship #ATS2024 American Thoracic Society (ATS)
You just keep making PennPulmonaryFellowship (and me) proud. You are accomplishing so much so quickly! Amazing!
I spy Gary Weissman current faculty/mentor and PennPulmonaryFellowship alumni. Way to go Gary!
This week we celebrated with several great fellowship traditions for PennPulmonaryFellowship - first a jeopardy game of fellows versus faculty - the game was so riveting I forgot to take pictures! Then first year class photos (with some awesome chiefs!)
After a class photo the first years and PennPulmonaryFellowship leadership headed out for celebratory lunch and then a race around center city for a scavenger hunt. The teams fought hard but eventually “Gritty’s Girthy Color-Changing Navels” emerged victorious though some cried foul.
