1/ Oral history isn’t “just stories.” For Indigenous Peoples, it’s a valid record of truth. Survivors long spoke of children who died or disappeared at Residential Schools. The TRC treated these testimonies as evidence, not anecdotes. #TruthAndReconciliation

2/ Archival gaps exist—many records were destroyed, hidden, or never kept. Oral accounts fill those silences. Courts in Canada (ex: Delgamuukw) already accept oral tradition as legitimate evidence in law. #IRS #Reconciliation

3/ Ground-penetrating radar at Kamloops & Cowessess confirmed what survivors had said for decades: there are likely unmarked graves at school sites. Oral testimony aligned with scientific & archival data. #EveryChildMatters

4/ To “believe” victims & descendants means respecting oral history as truth, especially where official records fail. Survivors have been telling us the story all along—the question is whether we choose to listen. 🧡 #TruthAndReconciliation
