Second time around - ode to Shalamar - at ᶠᵃⁿ In-N-Out Burger this time in Santa Clara. I upped my game for a double, double burger with extra onion (don’t judge) and a double, double order of fries! #innout #santaclara #burgers #fries

Blessed and great job to my son Tegan on his accomplishments in the sport of judo. Keep reaching for the stars! mi-reporter.com/sports/yuasa-g…

The opening day of trout fishing in Washington wasn’t wet and damp at all. In fact, sunny skies and warm temperatures were the norm across much of the state plus the “catching” was very good here at Pine Lake! Stay tuned, will post a WDFW blog later today!

Beautiful weather greeted thousands of anglers who ventured out on hundreds of lakes across the state and managed to find very productive fishing! Here’s the blog I worked on with many of my other WDFW staff. Enjoy! wdfw.medium.com/not-your-typic… #fishing #trout

May is looming and popular spot shrimp season which starts May 21 is truly “shrimply irresistble!” In the May issue of Northwest Sportsman Magazine, I’ll provide a rundown on where, when & on how to catch these tasty prawn-sized denizens of the deep! Subscribe at nwsportsmanmag.com

Here’s my May The Reel News column on tentative 2025-2026 salmon fishing seasons. Keep in mind these are proposals and will be finalized in early-June so changes in seasons/dates could occur.

Wonderful story on my “Bachan” (grandmother) who loved our church’s summer festival Bon Odori and was the lead instructor for 50 years. So grateful “有難い” of her legacy in Seattle JA community and passion for teaching Japanese classical dancing. Blessed🙏🏻buddhistchurchesofamerica.org/post/50-years-…

We can’t let these thieves win the Western Conference Finals. After all these years, hell yeah, I’m still freaking bitter.

Not a bad day in (OK outside) the office! Had the pleasure to conduct a boat count survey for the spot shrimp fishery in Elliott Bay with my #WDFW coworkers Braeden, Don and Hank. Not as many boats as I expected to see but lots of happy anglers with a good amount of success!

In 2017, walking out the door of Fairview Fanny on May 26 after 33 years was a breath of fresh air. In 2020, getting let go was the best thing to happen. In 2021 & 2022, doing what I enjoy for a career was a positive change. In 2025, I’m still looking in the mirror and smiling!

Yes, MA10 opens June 1 for coho only. You can find all the proposed salmon fisheries at this link wdfw.wa.gov/fishing/manage…. I posted a WDFW blog back in mid-April with a summary of the fishing seasons.

June is alive with many salmon fishing opportunities and be sure to read my column in The Reel News that includes early-summer options including some that are now underway and have been producing either Chinook or coho!

Well despite all the boats at the Clay Banks it was fairly lackluster although we did see some kings caught it was nowhere like the MA11 openers of past. Good news is it might stay open a bit longer than you think!

Thanks to our many #wdfw staff who helped me and our comms team make this blog on the 2025-26 salmon fishing seasons a reality. Anglers can start making plans on where to go this summer and fall across Washington and we’ll be updating this blog regularly! wdfw.medium.com/the-salmon-fis…
