Louder for those in the back! Research is only meaningful if it can equitable reach the populations it is supposed to serve. Thank you Dr. Krzynzanowska for this nuances discussion. #ASCO24 ASCO Hematology & Oncology Women Physicians Group—HOWPG #CareDelivery #Policy #ImplementationScience cc: Gabrielle

Anne Montgomery's Penn Medicine team used qual research techniques to describe what makes serious illness discussions hard in busy onc clinics. They describe what I find helpful in GI onc, dropping "breadcrumbs" with micro-big picture convos prior to scan reviews. #ASCOQLTY24

In the US, there is a growing reliance on industry to conduct cancer clinical research. Underinvestment in federally-sponsored research comes at a cost for both pts & researchers, with lost opportunities for scientific, clinical, & population advances. DrJoeUnger #ASCOQLTY24

"We need care delivery research deeply embedded in health systems and to support career pathways for this work!" Preach, Ethan Basch! #ASCOQLTY24

I'd like to repeat Kerin Adelson, MD, MHCDS's "Covered/Not Covered" Medicare quiz show for policy/payer/patient advocate/business leadership audiences TOGETHER to force discussion of our misaligned incentives, an effective way to spark solutions over fingerpointing. #ASCOQLTY24

Happy to hang up this poster for UPMC Hematology & Oncology Fellowship Program UPMC Hillman Cancer Center fellow Subhash Edupuganti who couldn't make it to #ASCOQLTY24. Check out this QI initiative for managing ICI-related thyroid dysfunction!

Excited to chat about our analysis of colon cancer care fragmentation in PA at #ASCOQLTY24. Do poorer pts have the same "flavor" of fragmentation as affluent pts? Thanks to @lindsaysabik for YIA mentorship! Conquer Cancer, the ASCO Foundation UPMC Hillman Cancer Center

Always so happy to see and learn from Chris Manz at HSR/QI conferences! His team did 34 interviews to elucidate barriers + solutions to address how cancer care for incarcerated individuals falls short. Bad outcome risk follows people after prison- this matters. #ASCOQLTY24

Really pleased to see explicit discussion of multiD care led by Raymond Osarogiagbon, MBBS, FACP at #ASCOQLTY24. Agree that "physiology" of multiD differentiates co-located clinics from a TEAM: I use the phrase "shared mental model" w/colleagues- the HOW (processes) is more than "treat the pt"...

Glad I could make it from clinic to the PM sessions of inaugural University of Pittsburgh, College of Business healthcare conference, "Advancing & Scaling Equitable Delivery of Patient-Focused Healthcare Solutions". This networking game is genius to warm up a multidisciplinary audience! #MDMBAEnergy

Energized to see the final panel at the University of Pittsburgh, College of Business Healthcare conference take on a tough Q about balancing the profit imperative + pursuit of health equity. Social entrepreneurship lit uses the "triple bottom line" concept, HC businesses likely need different tools/language.
