Great to have Lynsey Gillespie from PRONI & @BeebsyMcA from Northern Ireland Screen with us last Friday! They shared invaluable insights with our first-year students on the role of archives in Visual Storytelling, navigating copyright issues, and creative reuse. 🌟
It's not all about archives! Buildings and objects Ulster Folk Museum will also be examined as part of our CDP studentship with School of Museum Studies, funded by Arts and Humanities Research Council. For further details, please visit: le.ac.uk/rcmg/current-n…. Deadline 20th May 2024! ⏰
Many thanks to Lynsey Gillespie for helping our students Em, Lauren and Izzie with their research at PRONI today. They are busy working with Foyle Film Festival Northern Ireland Screen on a VERY cool LGBTQ+ project for this year’s Foyle Film Festival. Watch this space 👀
Massive thank you to National Archives, Ireland for hosting us in Dublin!🎉 It was inspiring to hear about their latest exhibition ‘Society & State: Ireland Through Its Record’ and the importance of the 1926 census in Irish history.
Welcome to Dublin Madelyn Mccartney!✨ We hear that you have some Northern Irish roots and links to Co. Derry/Londonderry. Why not visit Northern Ireland and check out PRONI to discover the rest of your family history. 📜🪶 PRONI Ref - D2892/1/1 #DerryGirl #Swifties #FamilyHistory
Happy Belfast Pride from all at PRONI! 🏳️🌈🌈🎉 You can find these lovely photos depicting the first Belfast Pride of June 1991 in the P A MagLochlainn Papers (Images courtesy of NIGRA, PRONI ref D4779/8/1-2). Come say hello to us at our stand at the Pride Village today! 👋
Can't wait to return to my beloved PRONI & work with Lynsey Gillespie @BeebsyMcA as part of this year's ESRC Festival NI. We're offering a FUN (+ free) Film Camp for 12-16 year-olds and will capture vox pop videos for the archives. Book a place here: shorturl.at/Hzf2Y
We had a great time in Venice talking about our Rathmullan Film Fest + PRONI + Northern Ireland Screen collabs. Festivals and archives are a match made in heaven: Great way to build new audiences, connect with local heritage, experiment with digital tech & promote film culture in rural areas.
