“The British establishment put a brick wall in front of us. Whether they open the door and let us through, or we have to chip away at it. Behind that wall is the truth.”

I've spoken to dozens of people who've been detained by immigration enforcement during these dawn raids. Tactics include a battery ram to break open doors, separating distressed family members, hauling them out in front of their neighbours and friends.

This '80% are coming from NI' can't be correct...

A back-of-the-envelope calculation for 2023:

- 13,000 asylum claims;

- 7,160 people refused 'leave to land' at air/sea ports. Of those, an estimated 87% or 6,229 claim asylum.

= minimum c.50% did *not* cross NI border?

Advice for scholars: next time you lecture on Kant and revolutions at “Downing” (Darwin College) Cambridge, make sure your hair is neatly tied and that you’re not blonde. Or else your research impact will be on the The Spectator libido section.

đŸ§”This most recent story by Luke Butterly confirms that migrant victim/survivors’ fear of reporting crimes to the police is not unjustified. The volume of data sharing that is being reported here also confirms what we see at the frontline, that this is not an uncommon issue. 1/4
