LSU Creative Writing presents their Visiting Writers Series, featuring poet Natalie Shapero! Join us on April 22nd at 7pm in the French House Saloon to hear her amazing work!

Help us in congratulating one of our graduating MFAs! Kayla Jackson is an interdisciplinary artist from New Orleans. She earned a Master of Arts in English Literature from Tulane in 2018 and is now set to graduate from Louisiana State University. Congratulations, Kayla!

Current LSU MFA Rose Marie Torres published her flash piece, "I like when my ass hangs out of my shorts" with The Good Life Review last week! She also attended the 2025 Tin House Workshop for creative nonfiction, working with Lilly Dancyger this past winter. Congratulations Rose!

GRADUATING STUDENT SPOTLIGHT: Sunny Rosen is from Newark, Delaware. Her work has appeared in The Chicago Review and Taco Bell Quarterly, among other outlets. For her thesis, she completed a novel entitled Ocean Bluffs. We are so lucky to know her!

GRADUATING STUDENT SPOTLIGHT: Halley McArn is an MFA candidate at Louisiana State University with a focus on prose writing. She is the current editorial assistant for The Southern Review and has worked as an editor for New Delta Review and Speculative Nonfiction. Huge congrats!!

GRADUATING STUDENT SPOTLIGHT: A native of South Texas, Rose Marie Torres has focused on creative nonfiction and screenwriting. She received support from Tin House and appears in The Good Life Review, Hothouse, and more. In her free time, Rose is a karaoke enthusiast.. Congrats!

The inimitable poet Keetje Kuipers kicks off this semester's visiting writers series! Join us at Hill Memorial Library on September 11 for a reading that's sure to go down in the history books 📖 🐯

Third-year MFA student Brett Hymel has found homes for two new stories! "Self Care" is available NOW as an online special feature in The Cincinnati Review, while "Four Teachers Stapled Together" will appear in issue 52.1 of Black Warrior Review. Big congrats, Mr. Hymel! 🏆
