According to a petition of release filed on behalf of Milford High School student Marcelo Gomes in federal court, Gomes has no criminal record and was in MA on a student visa in 2012 that has since lapsed. The filing says he intends to apply for asylum. #WBZ

ICE says that Marcelo was not the intended target of their operations. They wanted his father, Joao Paulo Gomes Pereira after “Local authorities notified ICE that he has a habit of reckless driving at speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour”

A judge has ruled that ICE cannot transport Marcelo Gomes out of Massachusetts for 72 hours

NOW: ⁦Governor Maura Healey⁩ arrived on the scene of the fatal fire at Gabriel House Assisted Living in Fall River. As of now, 9 people have died, 1 in critical condition, more than 30 transported to the hospital. A fire broke out in the facility around 9:30pm Sunday night. #Wbz

State Fire Marshall announces Gabriel House fire was an accident, originated in 2nd floor resident’s room. Cause could have been an electrical/mechanical failure of oxygen concentrator or improper disposal of smoking materials. He says medical oxygen helped the fire spread. #WBZ
