So what happens if one of the biggest players in the space decides to have it both ways, by treating OTel as a one way street? they'll "support" it, but only as a bridge for new users to get data in to their own walled garden?

I've got no argument with companies who want to continue to publish and promote non-OTel integrations. But if you support the open standard to let people get their data in, you should support the open standard to let people get their data out. Or you're just an asshole.

“Nobody who has run an online world has any illusions about a libertarian version of economics": Raph Koster, UO's lead designer. Wealth gaps and housing crises routinely appear in MMOs that let players invest in property. Guess what solves that problem? bloomberg.com/news/newslette…

Can we as an industry agree which part of secrets we're going to redact in secrets management UIs. One product shows me the last 4 characters and another shows me the first 4. Or always include a Notes field.

Moving far away from this place might be the most important health decision I've ever made. And the rare occasion I get to visit is even more magical.

Many executives fail to understand why tech companies are bloated. They are bloated because everything is held together with duck tape and "task force" teams. And it's due to gross lack of funding when it comes to removing complexity and technical debt.
